The Ocean’s Eleven star made a cameo appearance in Downton Abbey in December as part of a skit for Text Santa, but he insists he would never return to the role.

George Clooney asked NOT to return to Downton Abbey! Whoops!

by Lisa McGarry

Hollywood star, George Clooney, spoke to Good Morning Britain about returning to Downton Abbey and moving to the UK earlier today.

The star made a special appearance on the ITV period drama last year and shared a kiss with Maggie Smith….pictures of which went viral within minutes of release.

Fans of the series had hoped that the Oceans 11 star would make a return, especially since it has recently been confirmed that the end is in sight for the show.

However speaking to Ross King, George joked about returning to the popular period drama and admitted that bosses and writers have asked him to avoid returning to set under any circumstances! He teased: “I’ve been thinking about it a lot and I think since I nearly destroyed the Batman franchise, I could hurt that series really badly if I came back so they’ve asked me not to come back,” he laughed.
